The McMichael’s Inuit collection is a major public resource that attracts committed collectors, as well as thousands of students of Inuit art and culture to the gallery every year.
A Wide Ranging Collection
We collect and exhibit contemporary Inuit art in all its diversity. Captivating works by a broad range of Inuit artists are always on display in both the permanent collection and in special exhibitions. The collection includes paintings, prints, drawings and sculptures created using many different materials.
The Cape Dorset Archive
The gallery’s permanent collection is supplemented by the long-term loan of some 100,000 drawings, prints, and sculpture from the West Baffin Eskimo Co-operative Ltd., based in Cape Dorset.
